Flood Modeling Training Program Conducted at PDEU for Engineers and Officials
Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) organized a comprehensive flood modeling training program for engineers and government officials. The training focused on emergency action planning, dam break analysis, and image-based flood modeling using advanced HEC-RAS software.
Location: Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Organized by: Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU)
Department: Water Resources Engineering, School of Technology
Training Highlights:
The 10-day hands-on training was designed to help engineers and planners create accurate 2D hydrodynamic flood models.
Focus areas included Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), Dam Break Analysis, and Image-based Flood Mapping.
Participants were trained using HEC-RAS software to simulate both 1D and 2D flood scenarios.
Attendees:
The program saw participation from engineers from various government departments including irrigation, disaster management, and urban planning.
Over 20 officials and assistant engineers attended the training sessions.
Expert Involvement:
The sessions were led by experts and senior faculty members from PDEU’s Civil Engineering department.
Supervising faculty included Prof. Nirmal Water Resources, Assistant Professors, and external subject specialists.
Objective:
To empower engineers with advanced flood modeling skills, helping them in preparedness, emergency planning, and mitigating flood risks in vulnerable areas.
